Preschool – Early Learning

Find Your Potential. Find Your Y.

At the Y, we offer a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. The Y supports their social-emotional, cognitive and physical development. When you know your child is well cared for, you and your family have the opportunity to focus at work, plan healthy meals, enjoy family activities and establish a routine.

Our program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and is State Licensed. Our Early Learning Center has been successfully operating for 30 plus years.

Safety is our first priority. All Central Connecticut Coast YMCA child care programs are following all the guidelines set by the CDC, CT Office of Early Childhood (OEC), Y-USA, and other sources to ensure our policies and procedures are aligned to keep our children, staff and volunteers healthy and safe.

We will prepare your 3 or 4-year old for kindergarten in a caring environment. Class size is limited to 10 children per class. With an increased focus on literacy and learning through exploration, your child will develop the social, emotional, physical and academic skills necessary for the beginning of his/her academic career. Our program includes:

  • The Value Tree Language Arts Curriculum: Build self-confidence and language art skills as they grow into value-driven individuals.
  • Scholastic Readers: Teaches science, history, and math.
  • Computer Time: Teaches math, reading readiness and thinking skills.
  • Sight Words: Books, recognition and guided reading practices.
  • Language Development: Focusing on reading, writing, listening, and speaking connections.
  • Music and Movement/Socialization.
  • Outdoor Activities: Sidewalk chalk writing, bubbles, water games and other learning activities.

Registration is on-going and spaces are limited. Please contact our Child Care Department at ext. 3115 for hours and availability.
