Building Strong & Confident Swimmers
Intro to Swim team at the Bridgeport YMCA
Whether it is gaining the confidence that comes from learning how to swim or building positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork from being part of a swim team, swimming at the Y is about building the whole child from the inside out. We are holding tryouts for Intro to Swim Team at the Bridgeport YMCA!
Intro to Swim has been established for swimmers who have advanced through the stages of the YMCA swim lesson program and want to continue their swim education and training. Participants are ages 8 years or older, swimmers must have knowledge of rotary breathing, four major strokes and swim at least 50 yards (2 laps) freestyle independently at a moderate pace. Students will enhance stroke technique, build upon familiarity of 4 major competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke & freestyle, drills, turns, dives, etc.
WHEN: Practice is held Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:30-7:30pm
Swimmers must have water bottle, cap and goggles, and be on time for practice!
If you are interested in coming in for a swim evaluation, please speak to Justine Dupree, Aquatic Director jdupree@cccymca.org
