This class is modified to meet the needs of individuals with Multiple Sclerosis. The aim of practicing yoga is not to merely assume specific postures, but rather to combine breathing, posture, movement and awareness to achieve relaxation and body awareness.

Practicing yoga can give you tools to help manage everyday tasks that include balancing to stand or walk, strengthening and alignment for standing up and sitting down and core strength for everything you do.

Classes are currently:

In Person – Mondays 10:30am

On Zoom – Wednesdays 10:30am

This class is offered at no cost to YMCA members as well as members of the community. Please contact Joanne Orenstein, Health & Wellness Director, for more information. jorenstein@cccymca.org

Before and After School Care

FIND YOUR HOMEWORK HELPER!

The Y’s Child Care program provides a safe, enriching and fun environment for kids to enjoy. We strive to meet the needs of our families while providing quality experiences for the children in our programs. Where and how children spend their time is vital to their growth and success in life.

As an organization dedicated to youth development, we are working closely with the Board of Education! We’re happy to be able to provide that place, allowing your child’s social, emotional, physical and academic journey to continue long. Are also proud to be able to provide you and your family with the services required to remain healthy.

We help kids reach their potential and thrive in a safe, trustworthy setting. We offer a curriculum that aligns with the school day and supports growth in literacy, science, math, science, engineering and technology (STEM) while infusing the arts, physical activity and fun. We teach kids confidence, encourage self-expression and enrich social development. Providing our youth with the support, encouragement and positive role models that they need, will not only increase their ability to succeed in school but in life. For families, we offer a peace of mind knowing that your child is in a safe and educational program building new relationships and achieving more.

Everyone belongs at the Y. To ensure that all youth have the chance to participate, the Y offers financial assistance to those in need. Please talk with us to learn more. If you’d like to help send a child to child care, you can donate easily on our web site or at our Y. We also participate in the State of CT Care4Kids program.

The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA has a long tradition using the martial arts style of Cheezic Tang Soo Do, developing physical defense, high personal standards, respect and discipline of mind, body, and spirit. Our 9th Degree Belt, Master David DeGuzman, leads the students in self-defense, forms, weapons, sparring, and board breaking. We offer a variety of classes beginning at age 4. There are even summer clinics and occasional tournaments!
