As a leading nonprofit committed to nurturing the potential of youth, the Y has been a leader in providing summer camp for over 130 years. Our experienced and caring staff and volunteers model the positive core Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility that help build character.

Whenever we see a need in our community, the Y stands ready to help with open arms and caring hearts. Thanks to the unwavering support of our donors, volunteers and members, the Y has always been able to adapt and respond to the ever-changing needs of our community.
This year, we are proud to share that together, we have taught children to swim, housed the homeless, provided food to those in need, offered wellness programs for all ages, supported older adults and provided scholarships to many so they could participate at the Y.
Now, as we approach the holiday season, we’re asking for your help. so that we can continue to support our neighbors and strengthen our community. No matter what challenges the future may bring, we will continue to work together.
WHEN: Monday, December 5 at 12:30pm.

Bring your non-perishable items to any of our Y locations, including the Camp and Family Outdoor Center, the Family Program Center or the Before & After Care school locations during regular business hours! We will have labeled collection boxes at each location!
You also have two opportunities to drive and drop your items directly to our volunteers in the Family Program Center parking lot next to the front door!
WHEN: Wednesday, November 16
We will kick off our Collection on Wednesday with a “Pack the Van” event! Volunteers will have a van parked directly in Front of the Family Program Center from 4pm – 8pm for you to drive and drop.

Reading is an inherently solitary endeavor, let’s get together a group of people who love to read, then, have a discussion on whatever topics are provoked by our selection.
This group was started with three ideas in mind; it would be great to be able to talk over books and ideas with others; it’s good to be challenged to read a book you otherwise wouldn’t; it’s nice to spend time with people who are interested in the same things you are.

Our goal is to help participants build muscle mass and muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes and improving energy levels and self-esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants in developing their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of their recovery, but as a way of life.
In addition to the physical benefits, the program provides participants a supportive environment and a feeling of community with their fellow survivors, Y staff and members. Y cancer exercise trainers work with each participant to fit the program to their individual needs. Trainers are trained in the elements of cancer, post rehab exercise and supportive cancer care. Classes will be offered weekdays with daytime and evening classes.

Through a balanced approach to youth development, the Y’s program will offer activities, mentorship and academic support, helping kids to thrive throughout the school year.
As an organization dedicated to youth development, we are working closely with the Board of Education! We know how important it is for a child to have an enriching place for learning and growth, both in and out of school. And we’re happy to be able to provide that place, allowing your child’s social, emotional, physical and academic journey to continue long. Are also proud to be able to provide you and your family with the services required to remain healthy.
We help kids reach their potential and thrive in a safe, trustworthy setting. We offer a curriculum that aligns with the school day and supports growth in literacy, science, math, science, engineering and technology (STEM) while infusing the arts, physical activity and fun. We teach kids confidence, encourage self-expression and enrich social development. Providing our youth with the support, encouragement and positive role models that they need, will not only increase their ability to succeed in school but in life. For families, we offer a peace of mind knowing that your child is in a safe and educational program building new relationships and achieving more.
Everyone belongs at the Y. To ensure that all youth have the chance to participate, the Y offers financial assistance to those in need. Please talk with us to learn more. If you’d like to help send a child to child care, you can donate easily on our web site or at our Y. We also participate in the State of CT Care4Kids program.

The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA gymnastics team has been inspiring and helping children achieve their goals since the 1980’s. Through the years the Y has produced multiple State and Regional champions as well as State and Regional team championships. Our gymnasts learn, through fun and discipline, the ability to achieve their goals. We believe that if a child believes in themselves and trains hard, then anything, even the amazing sport of Gymnastics can be achieved.
