From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your patience, positivity and continued commitment to the Lakewood-Trumbull Y, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA. We have missed you and look forward to seeing you real soon!
As we prepare to reopen our facility, we thank you for responding to our Member Survey. Your thoughts and feedback have been essential in our planning process.
When your Y opens at the end of June, we will be following health and safety guidelines set forth by the State of Connecticut, Governor Lamont, the CDC, our Health Department and other YMCAs. As always, we will maintain the highest health and safety standards for you, our volunteers and staff. Our staff is already preparing and training so that we can practice our new safety protocol and procedures.
Yes, we’ll look different – everything looks different, right now. All of us will be wearing masks and keeping our social distance. We’ll be asking you to sanitize your hands before entering (and before/after touching other surfaces). The Member Service Welcome Desk will have a protective shield similar to those you’ve seen in grocery stores. Our cleaning protocols will increase to ensure surfaces and areas are sanitized between usage. As always, we’ll be asking you to help us wipe down equipment before and after use.
We greatly appreciate those who were able to maintain their membership and those who donated to our Covid-19 Relief Fund, especially during this incredibly challenging time! Thanks to your support, we were able to host a weekly “Stuff a Bus” food drive to benefit the Monroe and Trumbull Food Pantries totaling over 250lbs of food and grocery gift cards. The Y has also been host to an American Red Cross Blood drive with 49 total donors, collected 36 pints of blood and recruited 14 first-time donors. Our efforts have helped boost the community blood supply and ensure hospital patients have the lifesaving blood they need. We have also been engaging our members through daily live zoom group exercise classes and helping our children learn, grow and thrive through kids connect and countless phone calls to our members to say hi! We were here for our community when they needed us the most.
During our time away, we have had all of our lights changed to LED’s and we continue to make our building more energy efficient. We have also deep cleaned our entire YMCA to make your visit safe and enjoyable. Our Y is more than just the building, it’s you – our members, who come together for wellness, to learn, to nurture each other and strengthen our community.
We look forward to welcoming you back in just a few short weeks.

Every day, the Y strengthens our community for kids, adults, seniors and families with programs that protect, teach, connect, heal, nourish and encourage. It’s how we help communities and the ‘us’ who live in them achieve our individual and collective promise.
With our doors open to all, we bring together people from all backgrounds, to support those in need. We take on the most urgent needs in our community and inspire a spirit of service in return. Our members, volunteers, supporters and staff demonstrate the power of what we can achieve by taking action and giving back together.

The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA gymnastics team has been inspiring and helping children achieve their goals since the 1980’s. Through the years the Y has produced multiple State and Regional champions as well as State and Regional team championships. Our gymnasts learn, through fun and discipline, the ability to achieve their goals. We believe that if a child believes in themselves and trains hard, then anything, even the amazing sport of Gymnastics can be achieved.
