Sweat For A Cause

Sweat For A Cause 1

Together we can make a difference in the lives of others.

The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA is dedicated to the health of all people in our community, especially those with chronic disease. Our programs go beyond the physical, they provide a space for social and emotional healing, creating a community of support.

Help us raise funds to support our life-changing programs: LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA, MS YOGA, Programs for People with Parkinson’s such as ROCKSTEADY BOXING; and other evidence-based/chronic disease programs. Most are offered to those who qualify, free of charge.

Fighting Back Against Parkinson’s

rock steady logoWe are excited to announce the Lakewood-Trumbull Y is now a Rock Steady affiliate!

The mission of Rock Steady is to improve the life of people with Parkinson’s Disease through a non-contact boxing-based program.  Rock Steady has been recognized for its efficacy in delaying or reversing the progression of this incurable disease, and it is an integral part of the support system necessary to fight back.

We will begin classes on Monday September 30, and they will run each Monday and Wednesday from 1:30-2:45pm.  Membership is required, but there will be no charge for participation in the classes.

Before beginning the program, participants need to complete confidential physical and health assessments, not for participation but for correct preparation on our part. A signed medical clearance form is required. It is highly recommended for many to come with a care-giver.

If you are interested in volunteering, we want you!
