From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your patience, positivity and continued commitment to the Stratford Y, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA. We have missed you and look forward to seeing you real soon!
As we prepare to reopen our facility, we thank you for responding to our Member Survey. Your thoughts and feedback have been essential in our planning process.
When our Y opens at the end of June, we will be following health and safety guidelines set forth by the State of Connecticut, Governor Lamont, the CDC, our Health Department and other YMCAs. As always, we will maintain the highest health and safety standards for you, our volunteers and staff. Our staff is already preparing and training so that we can practice our new safety protocol and procedures.
Yes, we’ll look different – everything looks different, right now. All of us will be wearing masks and keeping our social distance. We’ll be asking you to sanitize your hands before entering (and before/after touching other surfaces). The Member Service Welcome Desk will have a protective shield similar to those you’ve seen in grocery stores. Our cleaning protocols will increase to ensure surfaces and areas are sanitized between usage. As always, we’ll be asking you to help us wipe down equipment before and after use.
We greatly appreciate those who were able to maintain their membership and those who donated to our Covid-19 Relief Fund, especially during this incredibly challenging time! Thanks to your support, we were able to share 1027 pounds of food with Alpha Community Services YMCA and their transitional housing residents, engage our preschool and school age students in Circle Time and creative learning virtually, and helped our members stay connected through over 1200 phone calls. We enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee with our members over Zoom and connecting on how to move forward. Thanks to a donation from the Stratford Rotary Club, we are able to distribute School Supply Kits, to help students end their virtual school year with the supplies they need and keep learning through the summer. We were here for our community when they needed us the most.
During our time away, we’ve been deep cleaning the inside of the building, powerwashing the outside of the building, painting the walls, and planning for the future of our programs. Our Y is more than just the building, it’s you – our members, who come together for wellness, to learn, to nurture each other and strengthen our community.
Thank you again to those members who were able to stay with ss and keep your memberships active and to those who donated to our cause. We look forward to welcoming you back in just a few short weeks!
Thank you for your continued support.

Check out our information regarding Stratford’s local trails and current information and tips! HIKING DETAILS
Aside from doing your part to help keep your community safe by following proper safety procedures, you will have to find new ways to stay entertained all while keeping yourself a safe distance away from others. One great way to do that? Getting outdoors. Gyms are closing across the country, so it’s also a good time to figure out a new way to get in your exercise. During this period of isolation, consider exploring one of your local hiking trails. Studies show that hiking is not only good for your physical health, but your mental health as well. We all know we’ll be going a little stir crazy without places to go and people to see, and getting back to nature is a good way to keep your mind clear.
Here are just a few of the physical and mental health benefits we get from hiking:
Everyone dreams of summer. Warm sunshine. Juicy watermelon slices. Being outdoors. Laughing. Smiling. Let’s kick off summer!
Our virtual Healthy Kids Day is a free event with fun activities for you and your family – a little inspiration to keep your body and mind active.
