The holiday season is a time for warmth, community, and giving. At Alpha Community Services YMCA, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, stability, and hope.
Every day, we see the impact of homelessness in our community. Alpha is more than buildings and shelter — it is a community, a source of stability, and a launchpad for lasting change.
OUR COMMUNITY IS FACING A GENERATIONAL CHALLENGE
Homelessness is rising while dramatic shifts in public policy are reshaping the resources and systems communities rely upon to respond. Across our region, families and individuals are facing housing instability at a time when the path forward has rarely been more uncertain.
Children sleep in cars. Parents struggle to maintain employment without stable housing. Individuals who have endured some of life's most overwhelming challenges are left without a safe and consistent place to call home.
This moment calls for our community to come together with greater resolve.
"The City of Bridgeport indicates that on a single-night count there were 713 PERSONS experiencing homelessness, of which 614 were SHELTERED and 109 were UNSHELTERED."
