Annual Campaign

There’s no place like this place.
At the Alpha Community Services YMCA, we believe that every person deserves a safe place to sleep, a chance to rebuild and a community that cares. For more than three decades, Alpha Community Services YMCA has been a leader in providing shelter, supportive housing, and essential services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Bridgeport and the surrounding communities.
We do more than provide housing – we help people find hope, stability and self-sufficiency. Each day, our team works alongside families to overcome barriers, access resources and take meaningful steps toward lasting independence.
Because at Alpha, home is more than four walls – it’s belonging, security and the foundation for a better life.
But the need has never been greater.
Across our region, families are facing eviction, rising housing costs and food insecurity. Many are one paycheck away from losing everything. Alpha is there – offering emergency shelter, supportive housing and case management that help individuals and families not only survive but rebuild.
Your support helps ensure that:
• Families have a safe place to call home.
• Children in shelter can stay in school and dream about their futures.
• Parents receive the support they need to regain stability.
• Individuals transition from homelessness to independence.
• Our community continues to be a place of compassion and opportunity for all.
When you give to the Alpha Community Services YMCA, you are helping end homelessness – one person, one family, one home at a time. Your generosity creates pathways to stability and hope for hundreds of neighbors each year.
There’s no place like this place. There’s no place like the Y.
Consider making a gift:
- A $5,000 gift provides a home for a family by covering rental assistance.
- A $2,500 gift provides a security deposit for a family’s new home.
- A $1,000 gift provides household items to furnish a new home.
- A $500 gift provides a months’ worth of food for a family.
- A $250 gift gives a child school clothing and supplies.
- A $100 gift feeds an individual for a week.
- A $50 gift provides basic living items for a family in need.
Your tax-deductible gift will be allocated to the branch selected and acknowledged as an unrestricted donation. The YMCA uses unrestricted gifts where they can do the most good, and we are committed to connecting our community’s most critical needs with donors like you who make a difference.
The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, charitable community service organization, EIN: 06-0662195. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services were provided in exchange for your generous financial donation.
BE A PART OF SOMETHING: VOLUNTEER AT THE Y
Your generosity and the generosity of other like-minded members of our community is the core of our organization’s success. Volunteer opportunities at the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA run the gambit, from one-time commitments such as working to raise funds to support our Financial Assistance programs, to helping at a special event, to longer-term opportunities such as coaching youth and teen sports and tutoring youth.
BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING WITH THE YMCA
The YMCA offers volunteers a chance to improve the lives of children and families and to make our communities stronger. In addition to feeling great about your efforts, volunteers have the opportunity to:
- Experience personal growth
- Create opportunities for your neighbors to participate at the Y
- Give back to the community through service to others
- Explore and/or discover a hidden passion
- Expand knowledge and skills through training and hands-on experiences
- Fulfill community service requirements for school credit
- Develop new relationships and make friends
- Gain community service experience to add to college, financial aid, scholarship and employment applications
- Learn, grow and HAVE FUN!
Volunteers are critically important to carrying out our mission, so we ask our program volunteers to go through an application and screening process similar to that of our paid staff members. You are a part of the team! This process ensures that the best fit is made between you and the program you are working with, while also ensuring we adhere to our safety protocols.
